Frequently asked questions
When should I contact a family doctor remotely while travelling abroad?
Most everyday illnesses or health-related concerns can be addressed remotely just as effectively and with the same quality as during an in-person visit to a doctor.
You can register for a remote family doctor consultation if:
- you fall ill while travelling (when abroad);
- you experience health-related disorders, complaints or acute illnesses (e.g. sore throat, cold, fever, dizziness, weakness, urinary tract infection, etc.);
- you have non-urgent medical issues that do not require a physical examination;
- due to your condition, it is difficult to physically visit a medical institution and urgent medical assistance (a doctor’s consultation) is required.
Are these consultations reimbursed under the Travel Insurance linked to SEB credit cards?
Yes. If you are abroad and register for a remote consultation due to a health disorder, the expenses incurred for remote consultations will be reimbursed in accordance with the Travel Insurance terms applicable to SEB cardholders – under the medical expenses insurance option.
IMPORTANT: only expenses for remote family doctor consultations are reimbursed where, at the doctor’s discretion, medicines may be prescribed (issuance or renewal of an e-prescription), referrals to other medical specialists are issued upon return to Lithuania, or referrals or recommendations for diagnostic tests are provided, if such tests are necessary based on existing medical indications.
Can I consult a family doctor remotely for preventive purposes? Are such consultations reimbursed?
Can e-prescriptions for medicines be issued or renewed during a remote consultation?
Yes. During a remote consultation, at the doctor’s discretion, medicines may be prescribed by issuing a new e-prescription or renewing an existing one, if medically necessary based on current health indications.
E-prescriptions cannot be issued remotely for psychotropic medicines, narcotic analgesics, benzodiazepines, named-patient medicines, reimbursed medicines, or any medicines that may not be prescribed remotely under the procedure established by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania.
An e-prescription issued during a remote consultation is uploaded to the patient’s e-health account. The issued e-prescription is valid in all European Union countries. In non-EU countries, the prescription may be presented to a pharmacist as a document indicating the prescribed active substance, based on which the pharmacist may offer equivalent medicines.
How do I pay for remote consultations?
Insured persons must first pay for remote family doctor consultation services using their own funds (i.e. payment is made at the time of ordering the service). Then, no later than within 30 calendar days, the insured event (incurred expenses) must be reported and a request for reimbursement submitted.
This can be done easily and conveniently by:
- online at www.ezalos.lt;
- by phone at +370 5 232 2500 (available 24/7);
- or by e-mail at seb@ops24.lt.
If you register for a remote consultation due to a health disorder, the expenses incurred for remote consultations will be reimbursed in accordance with your Travel Insurance terms applicable to SEB cardholders, under the medical expenses insurance option.
ATTENTION! When submitting a reimbursement request, the following documents must be attached:
- an invoice issued in the name of the insured person (you), which will be sent to the e-mail address you provided after the remote consultation (usually on the same day in the evening);
- a bank transfer statement confirming that the remote consultation was paid for;
- medical documents – it is sufficient to attach screenshots of the doctor’s consultation record from your e-health account (the name of the medical institution, your name and surname, reason for consultation, diagnosis and prescribed treatment must be clearly visible).
Can the cost of remote consultations be paid directly to the medical institution providing the service (UAB “Telesante”)?
No. When ordering this service, you must first pay using your own funds. After the consultation has taken place, no later than within 30 calendar days, submit a travel insurance claim / request for reimbursement of expenses using one of the methods listed above.
How long does it take to receive the insurance benefit?
The insurance benefit will be paid no later than within 15 calendar days from the date all required documents are submitted.
Which “Telesante” services are reimbursed?
Only remote family doctor consultations provided by UAB Telesante are reimbursed, if ordered and conducted when the insured person falls ill while abroad (during travel). Reimbursement applies only to consultations during which, at the doctor’s discretion, medicines may be prescribed (issuance or renewal of an e-prescription), referrals to other medical specialists are issued upon return to Lithuania, or referrals or recommendations for diagnostic tests are provided, where such tests are necessary based on the patient’s current health indications.
A request for a remote consultation must be recognised as an insured event under the Travel Insurance terms applicable to SEB cardholders, under the medical expenses insurance option, i.e. in cases where urgent medical assistance is required.
Can a sick leave certificate be issued during a remote consultation?
Sick leave certificates are not issued during remote consultations while the insured person is abroad.
